Safeguarding

If you have a present concern about the welfare of a child or an adult at risk, do not delay in contacting the police, using 999 if a child or adult is believed to be in immediate danger of harm.

Ealing Abbey Safeguarding Statement

Ealing Abbey is committed to the safety and welfare of all children, young people and vulnerable adults and will take all necessary steps to achieve this.  We acknowledge that their welfare and safety is paramount, and we will not accept any form of maltreatment or abuse of any person by any person.

The Trust of St Benedict, Ealing Abbey is committed to the policies of the Catholic Church in England and Wales. This commitment flows from the fact that we are all made in the image of God and the Church’s common belief in the dignity and uniqueness of every human life. We start from the principle that each person has a right to expect the highest level of care and protection, love, encouragement and respect that we can give. We will liaise closely and openly with statutory agencies to ensure that any concerns or allegations of abuse that are raised are promptly reported and properly responded to, victims supported and perpetrators held to account.

Ealing Abbey is committed to working within the safeguarding standards adopted by the Catholic Church in England and Wales. These standards are articulated and audited by the Catholic Safeguarding Standards Agency (CSSA). This is the overall regulator for all Catholic groups in England and Wales, whether dioceses or religious institutes, which includes monasteries such as Ealing Abbey. It sets standards for the policies religious bodies must have, and how they must respond to complaints.

Additionally, the Religious Life Safeguarding Service (RLSS) has been set up to give training and advice to religious institutes. This reflects the differences between priests, brothers, and sisters in monasteries or other religious orders on the one hand, and diocesan and parish priests and staff on the other. Ealing Abbey is committed to following all the best practices and standards recommended by these bodies.

Our parish is compliant with the safeguarding procedures of the Archdiocese of Westminster (read more).
